We are extremely anti-clickbait at TWM Wrestling News. We don’t believe in forced clicks for news. The headline should reveal basic information, leaving you the reader with the choice of finding out more information or not.

We’ve all read these clickbait titles before:

“FORMER WWE CHAMPION RIPS FELLOW SUPERSTAR. CLICK TO FIND OUT WHO.”

“TOP 10 WRESTLERS WHO HATE VINCE MCMAHON. YOU WON’T BELIEVE NUMBER 1” (It’s most likely CM Punk)

“FORMER WOMENS CHAMPION/VALET OF FORMER IC, FORMER US, FORM-you get the idea.

The point of a clickbait title, for those that don’t know or are unfamiliar with the term is to gain website hits through the form of trickery and misleading titles on content. It’s a disrespectful means of posting content and pitiful on the pro-wrestling community.

The problem today, with how social media runs, individuals that run various wrestling sites are so focused in on the number of hits their sites get. Reporting “news” to them means reporting the most absolute petty “news” that will generate any sort of hit for their sites. Many, many, MANY sites are so very guilty of this. They used to be fans. They may in fact still be, however their mentality for reporting all-things pro-wrestling is completely misconstrued, wrong, and heinous. Their focus is hits. That’s all they give a s**t about. It’s disheartening that they are so glued in, so focused, so dialled into the statistics of their sites that just reporting good, honest news is something out of the norm for them and they have to resort to clickbait headlines to force people onto their websites.

My question to that is: Why?

Why can’t those sites just post honest, good newsworthy post? And that word, “honest” is a word I use strongly. The pettiest pieces get posted FAR too much. “X-SUPERSTAR WAS SPOTTED OUTSIDE X-PPV ARENA. RETURN IMMINENT”? This actually happened for WWE Payback when a photo of Seth Rollins shown grabbing his bags out of his car, and proceeding to walking into a building. Too many sites ran this story, then posted RUMORS that THEY made up, just to get more site hits. The most pathetic part of it all was that the photos that they were using were from our very own Joselyn Lara (@josy0710 on twitter!) and they were photos from WrestleMania 31. OVER A YEAR AGO! Solid journalism there, everyone, round of applause for all of you for demonstrating a solid background check on the photos used.

It’s embarrassing representation for the wrestling sites that post truly honest and professional information.

Yes, I have a biased opinion considering I work for TWM News. The thing is though; we are the MOST thorough when it comes to reporting news to fans of professional wrestling. We don’t post any bullshit, clickbait article just for hits for our site. Yes, we do monitor the number of clicks our articles, news pieces and all things comparable. It’s only fair that administrators and people who run websites know what kind of clicks they get. But that doesn’t deter us away from posting what wrestling fans want.

We post everything you want to know/is applicable at the present time. Our news pieces are well-researched, professionally checked over and most importantly, are NOT in ANY FORM EVER presented in a clickbait format in order for us to gain more site hits. Our philosophy is that if we post a news piece that promotes itself, the interest will be gained from an organic interest from the reader that they want to click on the article or news piece on their own and not because we used trickery to get them to click on our site. We are wrestling fans ourselves and we want to be producing news and all things related in a format that is HONEST. No smoke and mirrors with us.

We won’t ever be posting “FIND OUT WHICH EX-WWE CHAMPION IS IN TALKS OF A RETURN” like pieces, we would in fact post nothing like that, and only posting when something relevant happens and it’s been reported.

Unfortunately that means pieces like passings of former wrestlers (2016 has been awful), releases, suspensions, and debuts, articles/pieces that are of interest to the wrestling fans of today.

We here, at TWM News want to bring legitimacy back to when it comes to reporting news. We would never deceive any of you, and nor should you be forced to pay to read the news. We have reached new levels of how we produce content because of the wonderful wrestling fans that have followed us, and supported us the last 3 years.

We post good, honest content because we are treating you fellow wrestling fans with the respect that you all deserve. We’re not about to dumb everyone of you fans down with clickbait bulls**t titles that cheaply gain site hits, because you were misinformed and now you’re on an ugly wrestling site, with outdated graphics, confusing navigation system and your computer now has an STI from all the pop-ups and viruses. No.

We care about our image and we also care about keeping you wrestling fans well informed about everything you need to know in the pro-wrestling news. We may not post as many news stories as some of the other sites, but quite frankly that’s because there’s very little REAL news in the world of wrestling. But you can rest assured that if we post something, you know it’s going to be worth reading.

We’re not interested in what wrestlers say to each other on twitter, and what WWE may or may not be planning because let’s face it, “the plans changed” is all to often an easy excuse to spurt out when stuff that news sites report ends up never happening.

These websites believe they are not selling out, but simply buying in. To us, you are a loyal reader, but to them, just another web hit. You deserve more than that.

TWM News is your main domain for all things pro-wrestling, and we are actively fighting against the #WarOnClickbait.
