With the Road to Wrestlemania well on its way, there’s always a question of which matches will feature at the Show of Shows – and each WrestleMania has its share of grudge matches and big title matches, but with both the WWE and WWE Universal Championships being defended at WrestleMania, surely NXT should also get a showcase?

The Championship has already been defended at a ‘Big Four’ pay-per-view.

Survivor Series 2019 saw Adam Cole successfully defend his title against Pete Dunne.

Smackdown is the only other main roster show that the NXT title has been defended on when Adam Cole retained the Championship by defeating Daniel Bryan.

An NXT Championship has also been previously chosen by a Royal Rumble winner, with the 2020 Women’s Royal Rumble winner Charlotte Flair.

Flair opted to challenge then-champion Rhea Ripley for the NXT Women’s Championship at WrestleMania 36.

As a developmental brand, NXT has developed a cult following since becoming a de-facto third brand back in 2012. NXT has had its own part of WrestleMania weekend, hosting its own WrestleMania-style show happening a day before WrestleMania, and oftentimes, the TakeOver shows end up being better in quality than the actual WrestleMania shows.

Outside of TakeOver shows, NXT stars have made appearances at WrestleMania, as they’ve entered the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal or even the recently added WrestleMania Women’s Battle Royal, with Baron Corbin winning the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal at WrestleMania 32 in his main roster debut.

With the recent announcement that this year’s WrestleMania, set to take place in the Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida will, much like WrestleMania 36 in 2020, take place over two nights, that gives WWE an opportunity to use more talent than just the current main rosters.

WWE could take advantage of this by using members of NXT, especially if there is no TakeOver show.

    When it comes to the NXT, they don’t necessarily need to have all titles on the line five championships currently tied to NXT;

    • NXT Championship
    • NXT Tag Team Championship
    • NXT Women’s Tag Team Championship
    • NXT Women’s Championship
    • NXT North American Championship
    • NXT Cruiserweight Championship

WWE could choose just to have the NXT Championship and NXT Women’s Championships defended at the Show of Shows.

There would also be a possibility of adding a Cruiserweight title match, if they so choose.

WrestleMania is the biggest show of the year and with each year we are provided e memorable moments, adding NXT to the mix will make WrestleMania that much better

With WWE promoting NXT as a third brand during Survivor Series back in 2019 – using the NXT stars at WrestleMania could really solidify the brand to WWE and its Pay Per Views.

Could we be close this coming idea being a reality?

With Edge securing his spot at WrestleMania by winning the 2021 Royal Rumble match, the second time he has done so.

Normally, he would only get a choice of either the WWE Championship or the Universal Championship. However, the week after his Rumble win.

Edge appeared on all three shows, RAW, NXT, and SmackDown, making each champion (and with the NXT Title, challenger) know that they are all options for his choice as to who to challenge at WrestleMania.

With the NXT Championship being made an option, it only makes sense for WWE to have the title defended at WrestleMania.

This woud be an excellent watch and even if Edge doesn’t choose to challenge for the title it could prove another big win #ForTheBrand
