Bobby Roode is your new NXT Champion, defeating Shinsuke Nakamura after a Glorious DDT. Nakamura was also suffering from a a kayfabe knee injury following a Kinshasa earlier in the contest.
However that was not the only major story of the night. Seth Rollins shocked everyone as he jumped the rail to return to where it all began for him, and demanded to face Triple H there and then after he was seemingly cost his spot in the Royal Rumble. Triple H did appear, but sent security and officials to subdue the enraged former WWE Champion.
The Authors of Pain won the NXT Tag Team Championships, besting #DIY with The Last Chapter in a competitive match-up and Asuka managed to retain her Womens title in a fatal four way against Nikki Cross, Peyton Royce and Billie Kay. This now means all three champions in NXT are undefeated.
The Kick-Off show was not without it’s share of breaking news as Corey Graves announced he will be stepping down as NXT colour commentator to focus on his main roster work. He will be replaced by new WWE recruit, former ROH World Champion Nigel McGuinness.
In non-title marches, Tye Dillinger could not overcome the odds as he fell to the leader of SaNity Eric Young and Roderick Strong saw off Andrade ‘Cien’ Almas.
