Wade Barrett has given his notice to WWE recently and will not be signing a new contract when it expires in June. Barrett is said to be leaving because he is unhappy with his current role in the company.
Barrett has been plagued by a number of injuries throughout his WWE career, the latest being a nerve injury in his neck which has caused Barrett to have significantly less time in the ring, although he has been making semi-regular appearances on television as part of the League of Nations faction.
Barrett’s last significant run was the 2015 King of the Ring tournament in which he assumed the “King” Barrett role.
Fans have recently criticised WWE for their use of the Preston, UK native; campaigning for a return to his popular “Bad News Barrett” character.
UPDATE: Wade Barrett took to his Twitter to address the rumours, including telling his fans that he will address the situation “at a more appropriate time”.
I unexpectedly received a lot of very nice messages from people today. Thank you to everyone who took the time to write some kind words.

I’ll comment further at a more appropriate time, but for now I’m 100% focused on doing my job for @WWE. See you at #FastLane on Sunday.
