In a shock this afternoon, Jeff Hardy released from WWE, a source with knowledge of the situation tells The New York Post, and Fightful has confirmed.

    According to the source, WWE presented Hardy with the option of going to rehab. Hardy declined and was subsequently released from his contract.

    Hardy was sent home from WWE’s tour this past weekend. At an untelevised show in Texas, Hardy was in the main event alongside Drew McIntyre and Xavier Woods against Roman Reigns and the Uso brothers, Jimmy and Jey.     Jeff Hardy was scheduled to appear on Sunday at another live event in Corpus Christi, Texas on Sunday but was replaced on the card by Rey Mysterio. As the news about Jeff quickly spread online, his brother Matt, who formed the iconic Hardy Boyz tag-team together, decided to address fan questions via Twitch.

    The All Elite Wrestling star said: “I did speak to Jeff (Hardy) for a little bit today, and he’s OK, he’s good, and I think he’ll be fine. “But once again this isn’t my business, and if he wants to go into it in more detail, then he’ll do it himself. But like, Jeff is OK, he is at home, and he’s OK.”
