AMMMERRRICCAAAAAA AMMMEEERRRICCAAAA!!! The Great American Bash returns to WWE and this time the NXT Roster gets center stage.

After a quick video showing a bit of the history of The Bash and a rundown of tonight, we began the show with the fatal four way to determine Io Shirai’s next opponent.

Tegan Nox defeated Dakota Kai, Mia Yim, and Candice LeRae to become the new number one contender to the NXT Women’s Championship

This was an elimination match and Candice LeRae was the first eliminated after a Protect Ya Neck by Yim. For a bit Nox and Yim worked as a team during this match, but of course that couldn’t last. The match as a whole was tremendously fun to watch; it coming down to the former friends in Nox and Kai was fun to see.

Oh! If you were wondering, outside interference was frowned upon by Regal. Hence why Raquel Gonzalez was not ringside to support Dakota Kai.

McKenzie Mitchell interviewed Damian Priest after the match. Priest though decided to talk directly into the camera with a message to Cameron Grimes. He told Grimes he had his full attention, which is something that he would regret. Priest then challenged Grimes to a match.

We saw Bayley helping Sasha Banks prepare for her match with Io Shirai, which we were told would be the commercial free main event.

Timothy Thatcher defeated Oney Lorcan via Submission (Fujiwara Armbar)

This, well this is wrestling. It was a slugfest, a shout to the days of old and it was extremely fun to watch. Thatcher and Lorcan put on a clinic, it is a match that you should watch.

After the match we got a video from Karrion Kross and Scarlett. Scarlett said the plot was about to thicken because the brand would be identified by pain and suffering. Tick Tock.

Rhea Ripley defeated Robert Stone and Aliyah via Submission (A Double Submission)

Ripley doesn’t have to join the Robert Stone Brand! She defeated Aliyah and well, a Rocky like Stone. Stone was rather confident, but it definitely didn’t pay off for him or his brand.

Before the strap match, we got a video of Roderick Strong yelling about Dexter Lumis’ constant stares, but how he will face his fear.

Dexter Lumis defeated Roderick Strong via Submission (Silence)

Poor Roddy, he just can’t catch a break. He tried to attack Lumis before the strap was attached to his wrist, but it didn’t work out for him. Not even interference by Bobby Fish could help Roddy win this one.

After the match, we got a video featuring Adam Cole and Keith Lee. Lee was asked why this is the greatest match of his career and he said it was a defining moment. We saw a few looks back at Lee’s moments at Survivor Series and the Royal Rumble. NXT is now NXLee.

Adam Cole gave Keith Lee some props before taking a bit of credit for his amazing year. Cole said he led the charge and was responsible for the things that have happened in the past year.

We then saw NXT Women’s Champion, Io Shirai preparing for her match with Sasha Banks.

After a quick commercial we went backstage where McKenzie Mitchell caught up with Johnny Gargano and Candice LeRae. LeRae was extremely unhappy about being singled out during the fatal four way. While Johnny was trying to talk about how everyone was jealous of Candice, she had her eyes on someone backstage. That someone turned out to be Mia Yim.

When Gargano strolled over to the fight he got mixed up with Isaiah Scott. Swerve seemed to be just trying to break up the fight between LeRae and Yim, but Gargano wasn’t a fan.

Santos Escobar and the rest of El Legado del Fantasma made their way down to the ring. Escobar talked about how the lucha libre culture used to be so revered and transcend the wrestling culture. Now? The historic tradition has been turned into a side show. He said we have been led to believe that the lucha libre culture is just a bunch of men in masks doing flips.

Escobar said that El Legado del Fantasma is out to show us the true roots of lucha libre in his image. They are out to leave a legacy they can be proud of.

Drake Maverick did eventually interrupt. He came out with a neck brace and stared down the trio in the ring. In what may have been a shocking move, he took off the brace and ran down to the ring. Being alone didn’t work out for him, as the numbers game truly took over. Before Escobar could destroy Maverick, Breezango made the save.

Fandango told El Legado del Fantasma that they wouldn’t be able to hide at night two of the Great American Bash.

McKenzie Mitchell interviewed Cameron Grimes. Grimes laughed at her bringing up Damian Priest’s challenge. Grimes isn’t worried about the past and instead challenges whoever wins between Keith Lee and Adam Cole next week. He basically appointed himself the number one contender.

Before the main event, we got another promo hyping up Mercedes Martinez. She will be on NEXT WEEKS SHOW!

Io Shirai defeated Sasha Banks via Pinfall (Moonsault)

It’s nice to know that Sasha Banks can still make an awesome entrance with a car, but make it even better by bringing her dog with. Okay, okay, the match. A tremendous main event, filled with solid action.

Of course Banks had Bayley ringside, which left Shirai at a slight disadvantage. Thankfully, Asuka made her presence known with Green Mist to Banks’ face!

We end NXT with Io Shirai and Asuka celebrating in the ring.
