Paul Heyman Predicts WWE Title Change At Upcoming House Show: Paul Heyman, the advocate of current WWE Champion Brock Lesnar, has made an ultra-bold prediction worth following closely. During an appearance on Cassio’s Cut (h/t WrestlingInc.com), Heyman suggested that a WWE Championship could change hands at the upcoming “Road to WrestleMania” house show in Huntsville, Alabama on Mar. 20:
“If you look at news cycles today, if I were to advocate for someone to do something historic or council, someone, to completely change the plans going into WrestleMania, I wouldn’t do it on television. I would do it at a live event, because it’s where people least expect it, and doing something that’s unexpected gets far more publicity than doing something that’s expected.
So, if I’m a fan, and I am one, and I’m anywhere near Huntsville, Alabama, I’m getting tickets to this event because that’s where something historic is going to happen on the road to WrestleMania that completely changes the dynamic of a show that goes in history.”
WWE Title Change hardly ever transpire during WWE events that aren’t shown on television. But Heyman’s prediction is eye-grabbing, to say the very least… WWE’s “Road to WrestleMania’ tour will also include a stop at Blue Cross Arena in Rochester, New York on Feb. 27 and a visit to Madison Square Garden in New York, New York on Mar. 5. The March 25 edition of Friday Night SmackDown — the second last episode before WrestleMania 38 weekend — will be held at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center. We will soon have an idea of the WrestleMania 38 championship scene after Saturday’s Royal Rumble pay-per-view.
Lesnar will defend his title against Bobby Lashley at the Royal Rumble, and he’s currently listed as a -230 betting favorite to retain his title. WWE fans in New York can get a 20 percent deposit match of up to $1,000 from Draftkings New York.
Ronda Rousey May Be Returning To WWE Soon
Former WWE Raw Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey may be returning to WWE in the not-so-distant future. On Monday, it was reported by Fightful Select, that some people within WWE have discussed a possible Rousey return.
Dave Meltzer later reported on Wrestling Observer Radio, that Rousey is part of the plans for WrestleMania 38 weekend. Meltzer also suggested that Rousey could face Raw Women’s Champion Becky Lynch at the event in Arlington, Texas.
The Royal Rumble pay-per-view usually features several surprise and unexpected entries. If WWE is indeed planning to bring Rousey back this year, the Royal Rumble would obviously be the ideal time to bring her back.
Rousey confirmed that she had signed with WWE at the end of the 2018 Royal Rumble pay-per-view. She spent just over a year with the company, having last wrestled at WrestleMania 35 three years ago. For what it’s worth, Rousey has the second-best odds of winning the women’s Royal Rumble (+500) behind only Bianca Belair (+300).
Lita Says She Had Other “Opportunities” Before Agreeing To WWE Return
WWE Hall of Famer Lita will return to the ring as part of the 30-woman Royal Rumble match this Saturday. Should she win, Lita will grant herself a championship opportunity at WrestleMania 38.
Appearing on Sirius XM’s Throwing Down with Renee Paquette and Miesha Tate (h/t POST Wrestling), Lita revealed that she actually had other “potential opportunities floating around”. However, the wrestling legend ultimately decided to sign up for a WWE return. Lita went back and forth on it, then ultimately decided “Yes, I’m In.”
Although she retired from wrestling full-time back in 2006, Lita has made numerous returns to the ring over the years. She was part of the first ever women’s Royal Rumble match back in 2018, but Lita was ultimately eliminated by Becky Lynch.
Lita and close friend Trish Stratus teamed up in a winning effort against Mickie James and Alicia Fox at the Evolution 2018 pay-per-view. On the following day’s episode of Monday Night Raw, Lita, Stratus, Natalya, Sasha Banks and Bayley defeated Fox, James, Sarah Logan, Ruby Riott and Liv Morgan in a 10-woman tag match.
Lita isn’t the only WWE Hall of Famer who has been announced for a spot in the women’s Royal Rumble match. Nikki and Brie Bella will also be featured in this year’s event, as well as former WWE Women’s Champions Michelle McCool and Mickie James, the current Impact Knockouts World Champion.
Speaking of Hall of Famers, Beth Phoenix is also coming out of retirement for a mixed tag match with husband Edge against The Miz and Maryse. There are six confirmed matches on the Royal Rumble 2022 card so far. We will also see Becky Lynch vs. Doudrop for the Raw Women’s Championship, Seth Rollins vs. Roman Reigns for the Universal Championship and Brock Lesnar vs. Bobby Lashley for the WWE Championship. Will we see a WWE Title Change before the Royal Rumble? Or a WWE Title Change at a house show before WrestleMania? Time will tell…
