This is a disclaimer to mention that THIS IS AN OPINION PIECE. IT’S OK TO HAVE DIFFERENT OPINIONS. There, now that we got that out of the way, here are my 5 superstars that I think need/deserve a push
Damien Sandow
Sandow went from a weekly joke, to Miz’ stunt double to essentially making Miz his stunt double. He captured all of our hearts through his weekly antics of mimicking Miz’ matches and now that he’s finally set free, where does he go now? We know how charismatic he is. His in-ring work is great. His recent in-ring promo that appeared very real, very genuine. Currently doing the Macho Mandow gimmick with Curtis Axel as the Mega Powers, hopefully this is only temporary, although it is a nice boost to the blossoming tag team division. Now after all of that, what does the future hold in store for the man of a 1000 gimmicks? Hopefully not adding another 1000 gimmicks to wrestle as.
His best bet would be to have his sights set on either capturing the IC title (given the status is determined soon on it) or the US title when Cena loses it (or in bizzaro world, have him beat Cena for it). Start small, and make the climb towards the bigger goals.
Bo Dallas
With the recent emergence of what potentially is The Wyatt family again, why not bring in Bo has Bray’s long-lost brother (in reality, they are brothers if you hadn’t already known that). You could have a 4-man group within the Wyatt family. Harper and Rowan eventually capture the tag-team titles, Bo Wyatt (rolls off the tongue nicely) could be given the psychotic, Mr. Positivity gimmick. Similar to the one he had but adds a dash of Wyatt insanity to him. Dress him differently, act a little more different (potentially multiple personalities?) but he could carry the IC title and have Bray EVENTUALLY win the big one and become WWE World Heavyweight Champion.
The eventual planning would be for having members break out and aside from Rowan, both Harper and Bo could find success after their initial success with the Wyatt group.
Stardust
If there ever was a time for a change of scenery (or galaxies) its Stardust. Now, Cody does an AMAZING job with it, don’t get me wrong. Ever since the split with his brother, he’s become lost into the nether-realm of low mid-card status. It’s been argued and I will back this argument on that Stardust gimmick should be laid to rest (for now) and bring Cody Rhodes back. Cody’s star was (seemingly) on the rise with his MITB bank match in July of 2013. He looked phenomenal in that match and appeared to be on the Rhode to greatness (haha, see what I did there? I took his last nam-oh never mind). That was a superstar that I was getting behind greatly. Stardust gimmick is great, but meaningless now. He needs a shake up to avoid drowning in the pool of mediocre jobber list. He’s too talented to be lost.
Luke Harper
I so badly want him to be this generation’s Kane. I feel people under-value his characteristics and in-ring ability. He’s a very talented ‘big man’ in WWE with how he moves in the ring, his mannerisms in the ring and his charisma (the small glimpse we’ve seen of it.) Harper has an excellent look to go with his personality and rather than being put in filler matches for Raw or Smackdown, have him go after the Authority or even a Bray/Harper feud if they’re not going to reunite The Wyatt Family. The promo’s both those men could come up with is money alone. I know this idea interferes with the 1 posted earlier in this article, but a feud like that has potential to draw for a big SummerSlam match. It’s a feud that would also put him on the map for a higher –up midcarder to low-level main eventer.
Bray Wyatt
Bray Wyatt may very well be one of the most talented talents WWE has ever come across in their entire lineage. Everything about him oozes what a superstar needs to make it in the WWE. He has that “It” factor and the wherewithal to be a top-tier talent for WWE for many, many years. Being 26 helps with that, too. The next 14+years of potential history making moments are in front of him, waiting to be experienced. He can’t be a talent that withers away into nothingness over time. So I’ve devised an 8-month plan for Bray to bring him into the main event picture and solidify himself as another step into the new generation of champions.
Have him squash Ryback in this feud (because he needs to win a god damn feud) and have his next sights set on winning ‘Money in the Bank’ in July. From there on out, (this plan also includes Rollins being champion till Mania) you have Bray torment Rollins and the authority with the reminders of him being able to cash in on Rollins anytime he sees fit. Now, to make this feud and story development work even better, you have both men compete in other feuds/have other focuses but every so often, have Bray creep back into Rollins life to remind him he’s never safe. WWE could pull of the creepy tactics like what Undertaker and Randy Orton segments featured a decade ago (Yeah, that feud was a decade ago. You’re old). Fake cash ins, or even attacking Rollins, looking at his briefcase and making it feel that THIS is the moment for him, only to hold off for another time.
All of the torment would culminate to either WrestleMania or the Raw after Mania. Yes, it’s very typical to use the post-raw mania as a time to cash in, but it’s because of what the atmosphere would be like with that win. Can you imagine 17,000+ all singing, in unison “HE’S GOT THE WHOOOOOOOOOOLE WORLD, IN HIS HAAAAANDS” has Bray lifts up the title? I can, considering I’m one of his millions of fireflies.
Who do you think deserves that push? Agree/Disagree?
