The sixth entry in Hirohiko Araki’s manga series JoJo’s Bizzare Adventure, and the fifth season of its anime adaptation, Stone Ocean, comprising of twelve episodes, recently started airing on Netflix worldwide while being scheduled to start streaming on Japanese television in January 2022.
Die-hard fans of this anime series have finally been rewarded for their patience and in this article, I am going to share my honest thoughts about the long-awaited JoJo no Kimyou na Bouken: Part 6.
Plot and progression:
After being involved in a car accident, key visual, Jolyne Cujoh is ordered by the court to serve 15 years for murder in Green Dolphin Street prison, famously known as the ‘Aquarium’. She begins possessing a strange power after her father, Jotaro Kujo gifts her a pendant. He makes her aware of the dangers of remaining in prison by informing her about a murder scheme against her, devised by no other than a disciple of Dio. This anime never bores its audience and always introduces new characters and abilities for viewers to enjoy watching each season. Having said that, it in its entirety is one way or another always based on the two bloodlines of Joestar and Dio clashing, with Stone Ocean being no exception. Jolyne being the protagonist of this season didn’t disappoint as she is the perfect blend of femininity and boldness and that runs in her blood. Throughout the season, we can see her using her intelligence wisely to make full use of her special ability and stop punks from going too far.
Animation and art-style:
Whether you’re a fan of the JoJo Saga or not, you have to agree that the colorful artwork used for every season is truly remarkable. Character designs in this season are up to the mark like always with Jolyne, Food Fighters, Weather Report, and Father Pucci having my favorite designs. Jotaro looks decent too but I would have preferred seeing the more bulked-up version of him like I did in previous seasons. Another thing I must not forget to mention is how beautiful the cover art for part 6 is, Araki really did an amazing job with poses for this one.
Final thoughts:
The hype that surrounded this season in the anime community before it was released made everyone hold a lot of expectations from it. I personally really enjoyed finally watching a strong female lead beating the crap out of everyone for the first time in this series. Once again, great justice has been done to the shonen genre, however, if you like seinen better, then the show is filled with a lot of battles and scenes packed with brutality and horror for you to enjoy. Overall, the storyline and characters are nicely structured, and the visuals are good too. Before I conclude this article, I would like to give this anime season a solid rating of 8/10, it is undoubtedly worth a watch. Thanks for reading!
