Former WWE Champion facing charges of assault

    Former WWE Superstar Alberto Del Rio was arrested earlier today after a woman came forward with photographs that alleged to show that he brutally beat and sexually assaulted her.

    On May 4th the victim reported to Bexar County police in San Antonio, Texas that at 10:00PM on May 3rd that Del Rio, real name Jose A. Rodriguez had allegedly become angry with her and assaulted her, causing multiple injuries to her body.

    According to court documents, the woman told investigators Rodriguez assaulted her on more than one occasion. In this recent incident Rodriguez Chucuan accused the victim of being unfaithful, investigators said. She claimed he became angry when she wouldn’t admit to the infidelity, so he slapped her across the head, slapped her again, then took her to his downstairs bedroom and slapped her eight more times, according to the arrest paperwork. 

    The victim also told police they walked downstairs and he forced her to wear a dress and dance for him. When she told him she didn’t want to and he said not to cry because if she did, he would take her son and drop him in the middle of the road somewhere.

    Police then said Rodriguez Chucuan then tied the woman’s hands with boxing straps, put a sock in her mouth and sexually assaulted her for several hours, using various objects. According to investigators, he also punched her in the back during the assault, causing visible injuries. The victim told detectives she does not remember much after he placed his hand around her throat.

    The former WWE Superstar’s bail was set at $50,000 but records show he was released on recognisance last night. If Del Rio was convicted, he could face between 2-20 years in prison and/or a fine of up to $10,000.

    Del Rio became a naturalized citizen of the United States during a ceremony in San Antonio on May 24th, 2018.
