After months of speculation and build-up in 2018, the first big news of 2019 has finally been revealed in the form of All Elite Wrestling.
At the end of the latest episode of ‘Being The Elite’ released midnight Pacific time on January 1st 2019, the countdown finally reached zero and after a little technical issue, the logo for ‘Double Or Nothing’ – the follow-up event to All In was revealed and the A.E.W symbol, signifying this new era in independent professional wrestling.
The Young Bucks, Cody Rhodes, and Hangman Page were included in the reveal of AEW and Double or Nothing. SoCal Uncensored (Christopher Daniels, Frankie Kazarian, and Scorpio Sky) were also part of the episode.
There will be a Double or Nothing rally and press conference at TIAA Bank Field (the home of the Jacksonville Jaguars) in Jacksonville, Florida at 5 p.m. Eastern time on Tuesday, January 8, with more information being revealed then. The advertisement notes that the rally will include a “special announcement from The Elite in person, as well as appearances from S.C.U and other “special guests”.
AEW has been rumored since October, with trademarks for the promotion being filed in November. It is believed that Tony Khan is at the forefront of the promotion. Khan the son of billionaire Shahid Khan, and also major player at both Premier League football club Fulham and NFL franchise Jacksonville Jaguars. He is a longtime professional wrestling fan, and Cody was spotted in the directors box at a Jaguars game late last year fuelling further speculation.
