AJPW Junior Heavyweight Champion Aoki sadly passes away following a road accident.

    The Japanese wrestling world was stunned earlier today when Atsushi Aoki died following a motorcycle crash, aged just 41.

    First broke by NJPW analyst Chris Charlton translating an article from Kyodo, Aoki was riding on the thecapital expressway of Kitanomaru Park 1, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo when his bike failed to take a curve and hit a tunnel wall. He was pronounced dead when he arrived at the hospital.

    He was the current All Japan Junior Heavyweight Champion, currently on his fourth reign. He also wrestled in Pro Wrestling NOAH where he was a two time GHC Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Champion alongside Naomichi Marufuji and Kotaro Suzuki respectively, and the latter Suzuki was also his partner winning the AJPW Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Titles.

    He also wrestled in Mexico’s AAA, winning the AAA Tag Team Titles with Go Shiozaki.
