Jerry Lawler arrested for domestic assault charges, suspended by WWE. Fiancé Lauryn McBride also detained.
Jerry ‘The King’ Lawler and his fiancé have been arrested today facing assault charges in Memphis, TN. The 66-year-old Lawler and the 27-year-old McBride were both booked into the Shelby County Jail around 1 a.m. Friday.
WWE were quick to confirm the arrest and immediately suspended him stating;
WWE has zero tolerance for matters involving domestic violence, and per our policy, Jerry Lawler has been suspended indefinitely following his arrest.

It’s been reported that Jerry “struck McBride in the head and then shoved her into a stove” and Jerry claims Lauryn retaliated by “scratching him in the face, threw a candle at him and kicked him in the groin”.
Lauryn further claims that Jerry brought an “unloaded pistol” into the room and told her to “kill herself”, while Jerry claims it was an intoxicated Lauryn that brought the pistol into the kitchen.

In a small announcement via WWE.com on July 1, 2016 Jerry ‘The King’ Lawler has had his suspension for the above dispute lifted, effective immediately. There are no further official statement’s on this story and as such it seems we can expect to see Lawler back in the commentary seat for SmackDown on Tuesday 5 July 2016, from Huntington Center Toledo, OH.
WWE released the below statement on the matter;
Jerry Lawler’s legal matter has been resolved and his suspension has been lifted, effective immediately.
In a statement from Lawler’s attorney Ted Hansom, he said was “a big misunderstanding and won’t happen again. We are happy with the outcome.”
