Legendary 80’s professional wrestler “Nature Boy” Buddy Landel has passed away this Monday at the age of 53.
Landel was injured in a car accident over the weekend and was taken to hospital. However on Sunday he was reported to have checked himself out of the facility and gone home. He’s believed to have told his wife he was feeling bad and went to bed to go to sleep. His wife went to check on him, as he hadn’t woken up, and she found he’d died.
Trained by Karl Gotch & Boris Malenko and Managed by J.J. Dillon, Landel was a huge star in the 80s. Amongst his accomplishments were reigns as NWA National Heavyweight Champion, USWA Heavyweight Champion and Mid-South Television Champion.
He was inducted into the Legends of Pro Wrestling Hall of Fame in 2011.
On behalf of us all at The Wrestling Mania, we send our condolences to the family, friends and fans of Buddy Landel.
