Brighton – Otis

Both Otis and Brighton are still fairly new to the big time. Brighton won promotion to the Premier League ahead of the 2017-18 season, and have since become part of the furniture. Otis, meanwhile, was promoted to the WWE main roster in 2019; meaning they are both still considered rookies at the highest level. Still, Brighton have taken victories against the league’s biggest teams, and like Otis, they’ve shown to be no pushovers.

    BurnleySami Zayn

What Zayn and Burnley have in common is a strategy of staying out of trouble. Burnley have never had the resources to compete with their rivals in the Premier League, though still manage to stay afloat. Sami Zayn, meanwhile, has champion potential (he recently held the WWE Intercontinental Championship); but there’s a tactical prowess to his persona that means he can avoid trouble, tire out the opposition, and then get the job done.

    Chelsea – Randy Orton

One of the biggest names in both WWE and in the Premier League, Orton and Chelsea have vast title history. Though the limelight has occasionally dropped of late, both remain vicious fighters – unbeatable at times. Very happy to disrupt the balance.

    Crystal PalaceMustafa Ali

Roy Hodgson deserves credit for retaining the club’s Premier League status for so many years, but there is only so long that they can keep this up. Palace has rarely threatened to break into the top half, yet have enough about them to avoid relegation. It would be harsh to consider anyone within WWE as an exact replica, but perhaps Mustafa Ali – who is still some distance from WWE’s elite ranks – could be considered that regular, but not yet outstanding, competitor.

    EvertonCesaro

Despite never earning a true main event run, the Swiss-born wrestler remains one of WWE’s most praised performers. Everton too has been ever-present in England’s top-flight, but since the transition from First Division to Premier League, the Toffees have yet to win English football’s ultimate prize.

    FulhamDominik Mysterio

No one can begrudge Scott Parker’s side for their confidence this season. They disappointed during their last Premier League run but that hasn’t stopped them from bouncing back and giving it another go in 2020-21. As one of the newest entrants to the WWE roster (at least among those entered in the Rumble), Dominik Mysterio perhaps closest matches Fulham’s confidence, newcomer status.
