In the latest round of TNA Impact television tapings, Kurt Angle came out and announced that he has been diagnosed with a tumour in his neck and will require surgery. The show that he announced this at will air in early August. While we will not spoil the TNA Championship match for the future with EC3 (As of this post, June 28th), we can confirm that Kurt will miss time from here onwards.
While many are unsure how long Kurt will miss for the surgery, PWInsider.com have learned that this is an issue Kurt has known “For about a Year” and “it has been causing him some issues leading to muscle atrophy”
After some quick research,
Muscle atrophy is when muscles waste away. The main reason for muscle wasting is a lack of physical activity. This can happen when a disease or injury makes it difficult or impossible for you to move an arm or leg.
With the future of TNA still up in air, Kurt did say that he was “Promised a future match” against a certain opponent on the TV Tapings. However, come August he might not have a company to return to.
UPDATE
According to Bob Ryder, an executive at TNA, Kurt Angle’s surgery is minor, and he’s expected to only be out 3-4 weeks. This means he’ll actually be back in time for the next round of TV tapings and thus, shouldn’t miss any actual TV time since tapings up until August are already in the bag.
