OH IT’S TRUE.
IT’S DAMN TRUE.
As broke by EPSN today, Olympic gold medallist and multiple time WWE champion Kurt Angle is to be the headline inductee in the 2017 Hall of Fame.
He will be inducted the Friday before WrestleMania, the 31st of Match in the Amway Center in Orlando, Florida. WWE will officially announce this live on WWE Raw later on tonight.
Kurt Angle said to EPSN on this announcement:
“I was shocked. I’ve been out of WWE for a long time and out of touch with them so I didn’t really expect this, It’s a huge honor. This is the only Hall of Fame that I’m not in and probably [the one] I want to be in the most. This is the one that means the most for me. I had a lot of fun entertaining the fans for seven years with WWE, and I’m glad that my hard work paid off.”
This is news that will shock many wrestling fans, giving the tenuous relationship between him and the WWE, but it appears the upper brass want to acknowledge Angle’s body of work.
Kurt Angle is a former multi time WWE Champion, World Heavyweight Champion, Intercontinental Champion, European Champion, Hardcore Champion and Tag Team Champion. He is forever ingrained in the memory of most for his incredible rookie year in 2000, and his stellar matches with Brock Lesnar, Shawn Michaels, Steve Austin and The Undertaker.
And, of course – this.
