PROGRESS Wrestling has announced that former tag team Champion Kyle Fletcher will be the next entrant in this year’s Super Strong Style 16.
Kyle Fletcher has had to turn to singles competition this year due to an injury suffered to partner Mark Davis, and had tapped into a more intense, darker side which has brought success to the ‘Aussie Arrow’.
He came within touching distance of the PROGRESS World title in January and came within an eyelash of capturing the PROTEUS Title from Paul Robinson, falling foul of a controversial referee stoppage.
Making his debut in 2014, he trained at the PWA Academy in his native Australia. He headed to the UK in 2017 and quickly found success alongside Mark Davis as Aussie Open, winning tag gold in Attack Pro, RevPro, wXw, DEFIANT and capturing PROGRESS tag gold on two separate occasions. He has also won some singles titles, being a multiple-time Attack 24/7 Champion and HOPE 24/7 Hardcore Champion.
With a hard-hitting style and a devastating hammerlock tombstone which he calls the ‘Grimstone’, he has impressed many with this new persona.
He was a part of last years Super Strong Style 16, beating Daga in the first round before losing to eventual finalist Jordan Devlin in the quarter-finals.
He may not be an immediate favourite in the field so far, but write him off at your peril. This could be the launchpad that elevates him to superstardom.
Fletcher joins Jonathan Gresham, Travis Banks, Chris Ridgeway, Sonico, Rampage Brown, Ilja Dragunov and Paul Robinson in this year’s tournament, which will take place on the 23rd, 24th and 25th of May at Alexandra Palace in London.
