WWE DIVAS CHAMPION PAIGE HAS SADLY BEEN FORCED TO RETIRE FROM IN-RING COMPETITION, DUE TO AN AGGRAVATION OF HER NECK INJURY.

Paige announced on the 10th April 2018 episode of Raw that she will be retiring from in-ring competiton. WWE officials informed the 25-year old that she will not be cleared to return to a WWE ring again following her most recent injury. She was reportedly re-injured at a live event during a six-woman tag match when Sasha Banks kicked her from behind. Paige went down suddenly and attempted to get up, but quickly fell back down before the match was called off.

This is heartbreaking news for not only her, but all of Paige’s fans as she looked to be in the midst of a comeback after nearly two years out following neck surgery and was announced for the first ever Women’s Royal Rumble. According to multiple sources, the injury is similar to that of Edge, who too was forced to retire the night after WrestleMania XXVII. Sheamus also has stated he also has a similar issue, but he will have more in ring time due to it being diagnosed early.

Paige, real name Saraya-Jade Bevis, began her wrestling career at the tender age of 13 when she worked in her family’s promotion, WAW. She signed for WWE in 2011 and began the inaugural NXT Women’s Champion two years later. She won the WWE Diva’s Title in her main roster debut in 2014 and went on to capture the title two times in her career.

She is due to have a film released about her life, based on the Channel 4 documentary ‘Fighting With My Family’, alongside Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson and directed by Stephen Merchant.

There is some good news however, as she has been announced as the new SmackDown Live General Manager.
