Lucha Libre star Perro Aguayo has sadly died aged 73. He passed away early Thursday morning.

He began his wrestling career in 1968, where he rose to fame being the last big rudo to feud with lucha’s biggest star, El Santo. He worked mainly in the Universal Wrestling Federation before Aguayo helped found AAA Lucha Libre in 1992.

His rivalries with Konnan and Cien Caras help gain the fledgling promotion notoriety and continued to wrestle full-time until 2007, when he retired.

His son, Perry Aguayo Jr. sadly passed away in 2015 at the age of 35 following an in-ring accident that caused severe whiplash, breaking three vertebrae in his neck. Aguayo stayed away from the public eye since then.

TWM offers our condolences to the Aguayo family during this time.
