After a strong showing at AEW’s Fyter Fest Isiah Kassidy and Marq Quen, who wrestle as part of the tag team known as Private Party, were offered full-time contracts with AEW.

Matt Jackson of the Young Bucks made the announcement via Twitter.

Private Party squared off against both SoCal Uncensored and Best Friends in a 3-way tag team match with the winners advancing to All Out to compete for a first-round bye in the upcoming tag team championship tournament. While Best Friends ultimately won the match, Private Party made a statement to the wrestling world with their eye-opening performance.

Private Party will face off against the Matt and Nick Jackson of The Young Bucks at Ring of Honor’s High Intensity 8 August 9th at the NYC Arena in Queens, New York. Private Party certainly has the world on a platter at the moment. A high profile match against the Young Bucks after their strong showing at FyterFest will lead Private Party into the fall tv deal AEW has with TNT. As Isiah Kassidy and Marq Quen begin their run to a possible tag team championship title let’s find out who the hosts of this Private Party are and where they came from.

Isiah Kassidy, who trained at House of Glory under the tutelage of The Amazing Red and Brian XL, made his professional wrestling debut in 2015 with 302 Pro Wrestling. At 22 years of age, Brooklyn New York native, Kassidy has quickly made a name for himself in the world of professional wrestling with his high flying aggressive in-ring style. Kassidy won his first professional match as a member of Private Party in a HOG match against Josh Glide and TJ Marconi in August of 2015. His 4-year wrestling history, however brief, has been quite fruitful. Kassidy has held 4 tag team titles with partner Marq Quen as a member of Private Party.

Marq Quen made his wrestling debut in 2001. In addition to wrestling as Marq Quen, he has also performed using the name Mark Quinn. He has wrestled as both a singles and tag team performer throughout his career. Quen was a member of the Tru-Talent stable with Alex Reyes, Quinton Cage, and Sir Attitude. Quen has also been part of a number of tag teams during his career including The Highspot Heroes with his partner Smiley and One Night Only with partner Anthony Gangone. Quen has been a member of multiple tag team championship teams including two prior to his partnership with Kassidy. Quen and  Alex Reyes won the NEFW tag team titles in December 2012, won the EPWE Underground tag team titles with Alex Reyes in 2013.

Quen and Kassidy won their first tag team title as Private Party by defeating Angel Ortiz and Mike Draztik to win the HOG tag team titles in 2013. In 2016 Private Party collected more hardware by winning a 4-way match to become GCW tag team champions. Private Party once again were crowned tag team champions by defeating Tommy and JP Grayson to become PWM champions in 2017. Chris Benne and Jason Sinclair were the most recent champions to relinquish their titles, the WOW tag team titles, to Private Party in December of 2018.

What does the future hold for Private Party? Only time will Tell. The tag team that hails “from the location where you need an invitation” is on the verge of setting the AEW tag team division on fire. The fact that they were signed to full-time contracts gives us a hint that they will figure prominently into the future plans of AEW’s tag team division. This dynamic duo demonstrated their athletic skill set during the 3-way tag team math at FyterFest. For many, this was the first time they had seen Private Party in action. While Best Friends, did, in fact, win the match, Private Party won the respect and admiration of many throughout the wrestling universe.

To date, Private Party is not scheduled to perform at either Fight for the Fallen or All Out. This could obviously change as neither event has a full card listed on the AEW website. It seems clear that there is some unfinished business with the Young Bucks which they will face at Ring of Honors High Intensity 8 in early August. In a tag team division loaded with talented teams such as Cody and Dustin Rhodes, Best Friends, SCU, Lucha Brothers, The Young Bucks and The Dark Order there is no shortage of options for Private Party to feud with. Based on the in-ring performance and the fan reaction to Private Party I look for them to be a major factor in the tag team division moving forward.

It is easy to see why fans and insiders are drawn to Private Party, their in-ring skills are top notch and they exude charisma, confidence, with just the right amount of cockiness. Private Party were hand selected by the Young Bucks to join AEW which speaks to the massive amount of respect Private Party has earned from their in-ring exploits. Both Kassidy and Quen are adept at a high flying acrobatic wrestling style that excites the fans and can shift the momentum of any match in an instant. They employ a style in which they often use each other to execute their jaw-dropping moves. Their in-ring offence appears to be a modified version of the luchador style which exhilarates the fans and garners respect from their opponents. Fans at FyterFest at the Ocean Center began chanting “Private Party” midway through their match as a way to signal their respect and appreciation for the in-ring performance of the relatively unknown tag team. Despite the outcome of the match, many wrestling observers noted that Private Party stole the show.

What seems clear is that AEW is recruiting and developing the best and most compelling wrestlers in the world. The result, thus far, has been nothing less than spectacular as each event has showcased the unique talent AEW has assembled on its journey to bring the best possible product to the fans of professional wrestling. Often times the tag team division is a watered-down version of the single’s division where second-tier talent are sent when they are deemed expendable.

AEW has developed a tag team division that is thriving due to the insane athletic abilities of the division’s performers. The tag team action is non stop and the technical skill of each wrestler is on full display during each match. Private Party, entered the party known as AEW, the way a person enters a room by kicking down the door. I don’t know what the expectation was for Private Party but it is safe to say they have destroyed those expectations. Isiah Kassidy and Marq Quen have stormed the tag team division of AEW with their fantastic performance at FyterFest and put the rest of the tag team on notice.

This division is their party, you can cry if you want to.
