AFTER MONTHS OF SPECULATION, WWE HAVE FINALLY ANNOUNCED A SUCCESSOR TO THE CRITICALLY ACCLAIMED CRUISERWEIGHT CLASSIC FROM LAST SUMMER.

    Thirty-two of the top female competitors from around the world will participate in the ‘WWE Women’s Tournament’ this summer on WWE Network, with ccompetitors from over seventeen nations are expected to perform in this event.

    WWE’s Trio of Women’s Champions are on hand with Triple H and Stephanie McMahon to make this groundbreaking announcement.

    The event was announced as part of “WWE Reimagined,” a presentation held at a business partner summit in Orlando over the WrestleMania weekend, with RAW Womens Champion Bayley, SmackDown Live Womens Champion Alexa Bliss and NXT Womens Champion Asuka on hand to make the announcement, alongside theExecutive Vice President, of Talent, Live Events & Creative Paul “Triple H” Levesque and Chief Brand Officer Stephanie McMahon.

    Bayley revealed the tournament, saying;

    “Building on our Women’s division, it gives us great pleasure to share in announcing what’s next for WWE. For the first time ever, this summer, WWE will feature a Women’s Tournament.”

    Alexa Bliss added;

    “I speak on behalf of all of us, not just the champions standing before you today, but the entire Women’s division. It’s truly an honor to be part of another significant movement in WWE history,”

    Asuka closed the announcement, first speaking in Japanese before adding in English;

     “I am proud to be part of the Women’s Evolution, representing Japan and WWE.”

    Now, all that is left is to speculate who will make the field of thirty-two, with many hoping stars from STARDOM in Japan, Shine and Shimmer in the United States and female stars from WWE affiliates Insane Championship Wrestling and PROGRESS Wrestling amongst many others will be allowed an international platform, similar to their male peers last year.
