Okay pals, it’s time to take a look at the WWE Super Show-Down card and make some predictions.

First though, I’d like to point out that I went a respectable 5-2 at Hell in a Cell and my average on the year is now at 63.88% for those that carre about those things.

Speaking of caring, boy oh boy it’s hard to care about a show like this. Maybe it’s because of the letdown of The “Greatest” Royal Rumble (note the inverted commas, mates) but I just see this show simply being a Super House Show more than anything else. And because of that, I won’t be putting on my fantasy booker hat much, nor will I make these picks too drawn out. So, let’s get to it, shall we?

Asuka and Naomi vs. The IIconics

This will be an interesting match in terms of heels and faces. With both IIconics members being from Australia, I can’t imagine they will get booed. But I’m not sure Asuka and Naomi will be heat magnets either. So, the end result will probably be a match the crowd sits on their hands for. That’ll be fun (note the sarcasm).

There’s no story here, really, so I’m just going to take a shot in the dark and take The IIconics to get the home country win. That’s it, really.

    Winners: The IIconics

The Bella Twins and Ronda Rousey vs. The Riott Squad

There’s a lot of rumors about Rousey facing Nikki Bella with the title on the line. My guess is that match, if it happens, would take place at the seemingly forgotten about Evolution show. I would guess this match would be a good place to set that match up at. Now, would it be because of a loss or follow a win from Bellas and Rousey? I guess that’s what I’m here to figure out.

It makes more sense for the face team to lose here to set up an issue between Nikki and Rousey, but I just can’t shake the feeling that they’re going to have the face team win and then have Nikki do the “mutual respect” route and challenge Rousey to a friendly competition for the title at Evolution. So, I’m picking Bellas and Rousey to win.

Winners: The Bella Twins and Ronda Rousey

Bobby Lashley and John Cena vs. Elias and Kevin Owens

The faces will definitely win this. As I said before, I fear this show will be mostly a glorified house show, like The “Greatest” Royal Rumble was. Therefore, no way KO and Elias win and I doubt we get anything story-wise out of this. I mean, it’d be nice to see this set up a Lashley/Cena angle, but that stuff doesn’t happen at house shows, folks.

Winners: Bobby Lashley and John Cena

The Shield vs. Braun Strowman, Dolph Ziggler, and Drew McIntyre

The house show effect will come into play again here. I know they kind of half-heartedly tried to put some story into this match by teasing a Dean Ambrose turn, but that is not going to go down at 5am Eastern time. So, with that off the table, I can’t imagine the heels winning at this show.

    Winners: The Shield

Cruiserweight Championship – Cedric Alexander (c) vs. Buddy Murphy

This is the toughest one of the night to pick, because there’s juxtaposing schools of thought here. I’ve established this as a glorified house show, so you would expect the title to not change hands. On the other hand, Buddy Murphy is the hometown guy, and it would make sense to have the hometown guy win a big match.

I’m going to go with an upset pick and take Buddy Murphy to win the title. Not only does it make sense because he’s from Australia, but with the cruiserweight title being an non-main roster title I feel like WWE can change a title, pop the crowd, and not have to do anything too major at a show that might not see a ton of eyes here in the states.

    Winner: Buddy Murphy

SmackDown Tag Team Championship – The New Day (c) vs. The Bar

This match has a little bit of a story, but not much. They threw these two together pretty randomly and now here we are with a feud centered around pancakes. I wish I could set here and really have fun with this prediction, but why bother? WWE has put zero thought into any of the build to this match, so why should I?

I’m picking New Day just because I don’t think too many heels will be winning on this show.

    Winner: The New Day

SmackDown Women’s Championship – Becky Lynch (c) vs. Charlotte Flair

This angle has been so amazing to watch unfold. I love the personal animosity between these two and I feel like we’ve still just scratched the surface of what these two women can actually do in the ring. I don’t think we’ll see everything here, as I’m still looking for these two to be a marquee match at the Evolution show. But I think this match has potential for match of the night, an honor it will likely compete for against the last 3 matches coming up in the ole rundown here.

I’m picking Becky to retain here. It might come via a DQ, or countout, but I’m thinking she’ll get a cheap win to set up the Evolution match.

    Winner: Becky Lynch

WWE Championship #1 Contendership– Daniel Bryan vs. The Miz

This has to be The Miz’s match to win, right? I mean, I’ve been fantasy booking this feud month after month and my path to having these two face off at Mania is set perfectly with this match. Miz wins this match, goes on to win the WWE Title, then we have Bryan win the Rumble, and boom, there’s our main event!

I’m looking forward to this match the most of all the rest here, as it is probably the only one that will contain any real significant moments that will impact storyline moving forward. I’m going with my fantasy booking, even though it goes against my “faces must win non-title matches” way of thinking for this show.

    Winner: The Miz

WWE Championship | No DQ/No Countout Match – AJ Styles (c) vs. Samoa Joe

AJ Styles mentioned on SmackDown this week that he was going to bury Samoa Joe, which made me wonder, for a split second, if this match was getting changed to a buried alive match. Thaw would’ve been cool on paper, but I’ve yet to see a buried alive match that was really that good. I’m curious though, to see where this feud goes after here. Are we sticking with it for Survivor Series? Or are we done here? And why was there never any more mention of AJ tapping out at Hell in a Cell? I’ve liked the stuff we’ve gotten from this angle, but I feel like we took a weird turn here.

Shouldn’t this match have taken place at Hell in a Cell? Styles got disqualified at SummerSlam, so this would’ve been a logical follow-up. Instead we got a regular match as the follow up and had a “ref missed the tapout” finish. This match stip doesn’t eliminate the possibility that that tapout thing doesn’t happen again, so why have it? I don’t have answers to these questions, but I do know who I’m picking here.

I’m going with AJ Styles to win. I know I’ve driven the house show thing into the ground, but this show is coming on before the sun comes up here in the States and I just cannot imagine WWE switching the WWE title on a live show that most Americans won’t be watching live. I mean, c’mon, we’re Americans… we’re like the most important of all the people. Right? … Right!?

Okay, maybe that’s not true… we’re probably second behind rich Saudi princes who have a weird desire to play a real life version of the old EWR game.

    Winner: AJ Styles

Triple H (with Shawn Michaels) vs. The Undertaker (with Kane)

I don’t have the slightest clue about this one. Fun fact, the combined age of these two wrestlers is 102 years old. Also, if Undertaker wins, it’ll be his 102nd official PPV win in WWE. Coincidence? Let me continue. This will be the 17th one-on-one televised match between Undertaker and Trips and the 6th time they’ve met in such a way on PPV. 17 x 6 = 102! Let me continue… Shawn Michaels will be in the corner of Triple H; Undertaker retired Shawn Michaels in March of 2010, which just happened to be… wait for it… 102 months ago! And since Undertaker won his very first WWE Title in November of ’91, and since 11 + 91 = (you guessed it) 102, I have to go with the Deadman on this one…

Yeah, I know, none of that made sense, but I had to put something down there and that made as much sense as anything else I could’ve come up with. Although I guess it’s a good example of how you can make patterns with numbers relatively easily if you want to. Or maybe there REALLY IS a meaning behind the number 102… I guess the world will never truly know.

    Winner: The Undertaker
