1995 – In Your House V: Season’s Beatings

December 1995’s In Your House was a lousy show. At the time it garnered the lowest buy-rate the WWE had drawn to date. With matches such as Hunter-Hearst Helmsley against Henry O Godwin in an Arkansas Hog Pen Match and Ahmed Johnson versus Buddy Landell it’s not a show that you should waste two hours of your life on. Unless you REALLY want to see the debut of Zanta Claus, the evil St Nick. But it is a show you should spend 20 minutes or so of your life on as it features a FANTASTIC main event as WWE Champion Bret Hart defends against brother-in-law Davey Boy Smith. Whilst it’s not quite as emotional as their SummerSlam 1992 classic, it’s very nearly as great a match as that one in a technical sense. It also features blood, which was a no-no at the time in the WWE, but which Bret took it upon himself to provide. He got away with it too…
