Mike Johnson of PWInsider.com is reporting that WWE will be leaving Orlando’s Amway Center by early December.
“We are told that the company’s production team currently needs to clear out the venue no later than 12/5 due to The Orlando Magic needing the facility as the NBA is hoping to launch their next season during that time frame.”
WWE is reportedly looking at other venues to host the Thunderdome in states such as Florida, Texas and Illinois.
Also during the latest Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer talked about the WWE Thunderdome being moved to a different location once the lease with Amway Center expires:
“I don’t know where they’re going, believe it or not, Tropicana Field in Saint Petersburg has been talked about, which is a baseball stadium… I don’t know how you run that every week. They’ll have to run that twice a week. I mean it’s good that you’re in central Florida.
I think everybody wants to run Florida because so many of the guys live there, it’s cheaper, you’re not going to get shut down, they start shutting things down all over the country, you’re pretty confident Florida because the governor isn’t going to shut anything down, but that’s a big empty building. It’s safer…I know there are all kinds of other indoor buildings they’ve talked to as well.”
