All players and staff have also been laid off

One month after cancelling the entire season due to Coronavirus pandemic, Vince McMahon’s XFL has announced that it has suspended operations and laid off all employees.

First announced by ESPN’s Field Yates, XFL COO Jeffery Pollock said employees were informed of the decision on Friday. We then heard from NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo, who announced that XFL players will be paid up until Sunday and it is unclear if the league will ever return.

The league was founded in 2018, after it’s original incarnation folded in 2001. It’s debut season began in 2020 but after five weeks of play, closed due to concerns surrounding COVID-19
