McIntyre Moves to SmackDown and Challenges for the Intercontinental Championship
Drew McIntyre originally made his debut on SmackDown in October of 2007, but it wasn’t until August of 2009 where McIntyre began to make a bit of a name for himself on the blue brand.
Vince McMahon would later go on to dub McIntyre as a “future world champion” that he had personally signed, and then proclaimed him as ‘The Chosen One.’
Fast forward to the TLC pay-per-view in December of that year, McIntyre would go one-on-one with John Morrison who was the Intercontinental Champion at the time, which Drew ended up winning and securing his first championship in WWE.

Present-day, Drew McIntyre has been the face of Monday nights, Big E was just dethroned as Intercontinental Champion by Apollo Crews at WrestleMania (with some aid via run-in by Dabba-Kato, now under the moniker Commodore Azeez), as he’s most likely going to embark on a possible clash with the current Universal Champion Roman Reigns after he runs through Daniel Bryan and Cesaro.
This is going to leave a bit of an open spot for Crews, and although there are numerous contenders on Friday nights that could easily challenge for the title, a narrative of McIntyre returning to the brand that he began in to reclaim his first title and make it mean something as opposed to the dastardly heel is not a bad narrative to tell.

Crews is an absolute beast of an athlete and has shown what he can do in the position of a bad guy on television, and it’s obvious that McIntyre is one of the best for a man of his size, and has more than proven his worth since rising to the top of the main event scene, what these two could possibly do against one another might be a sight to be seen.
Apollo, along with the aforementioned Azeez, working with someone like McIntyre would increase their stock as a Superstar within the company, giving Apollo more names to work with would only benefit him in the long run, further establishing himself as a heel and setting him up later on down the road for a possible face turn should the opportunity present itself for him.
